Starting 2026-08-02, AutoPatent displays a continuation-in-part timing note in the comparison sidebar when pinned references have filing dates that fall within 12 months of each other and share at least one inventor with your draft. The note does not assess whether a CIP is appropriate; it surfaces a timing pattern that reviewers may want to discuss with counsel. The note appears as a yellow badge beside the reference cluster and includes the overlapping inventor names and the filing-date span in YYYY-MM-DD format.
